The materials of the products used to be directly exploited from  the Marble Mountains. However, for preservative purpose, the materials are now extracted and transported from neighboring provinces including Quang Nam and Thanh Hoa.

This is the most recent yet probably the largest and undoubtedly the most interesting Museumsin Hanoi and Vietnam. The Museum comes out of the recognition that Vietnam is a multi-ethnic country and that more attention should be paid to promote socio-cultural diversity. Despite being out of the way compared with other museums in Hanoi, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is worth a thorough visit, for those who are keen to learn about the multiculturality of Vietnam and for those who would appreciate some green space.

There are both indoors and outdoors section. While the in-housed exhibition is particularly informative, the outdoors display and activities make the museum stand out from the rest. There are a number of houses modeling after the traditional architecture of ethnic minorities, especially those who live in Northern and Central highlands.

You will be blown away by the elaboration of these architectures, at the same time being thoroughly engaged in traditional games and activities such as water puppet show, calligraphy, stone game (O An Quan). The museum is especially a great choice for those who cannot find time to visit all remote areas where live the majority of Vietnam ethnic minorities.

70 kilometers from Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, near the ethnic village of Tan Hoa, Tu Lan Cave system consists of more than 10 caves, which were discovered in 1992. Its dry entrance provides an outstanding view of the valley below and promises many adventures inside. A ladder leads to the floor of the cave, and from there the journey truly begins.

Explorers will have to trek through remote jungles, buffalo fields, corn fields surrounded by giant limestone mountains on all sides, and cross deep and cool underground rivers to enjoy the quiet atmosphere of beautiful lakes, green trees, and small waterfalls. The first cave on the horizon here is Hung Ton cave, accessed through its dry entrance.

After one day adventures, Tu Lan campsites are spectacular to take in. Limestone mountains breaking out of the ground and stunning waterfalls sending white bubbles across the surface of the water leave you special feelings. Technically, you can still smell that vaguely humid, dusty smell that is ubiquitous in many tropical areas. Plus the exhaust fumes from the thousands of scooters and motorbikes whizzing by on the Phu Xuan Bridge. However, the Perfume River (or Hương Giang or Sông Hương) can be aromatic once in a year, in the fall, when the orchards’ flowers goes down onto the water. The thing you’re likely to see is a calm brown river about 350 yards across, on which just few boats are standing still. Some locals do dredging to sell the sand to cement manufacturers and somehow make the water soupy brown. It’s not so pretty water, at least in broad daylight. There are families living on boats. They bathe in the river. to them, it’s much more of the kitchen and bathroom. Fishermen try their luck casting a net from thin, long, wooden sampans.

In the late afternoon when the sun is about to hide below mountains and thick haze on the horizon, the orangy light completes the kind of golden scene of romantic visions of Southeast Asia, silhouetting the distinctive shapes of the local riverboats.

You have to wait until the sun goes down to see with your own eyes the life on the waterfront in Hue. Locals love to gather in the waterfront park in front of the university on the eastern bank. Plei Op Village was established circa 1927, being the residential zone of 15 households and 76 villagers. Nowadays, the village has been expanded and been accommodating 105 households and 540 villagers.

Its destiny has turned to a new page in 2008 when the authority of Pleiku City embarked on the project of developing Op into the Tourism Cultural Village. As the project, the utilities, facilities, environmental protecting plans and other infrastructures in the villages has been substantially improved. Last but not least, Nha Rong (Communal House), the Spirit of Plei Op Village, has undergone an enhancing maintenance and transformed into a more spacious and finer version. The front yard of Nha Rong is the venue for villagers to gather under the shadow of Neu Tree, appreciating the moreish  taste of Ruou Can (wine stored in a big jar, enjoyed by a group of people through straws) and immerse themselves into the rhythm of Gongs and velvety Xoan Dance.

In addition to artificial and precious values found in the lifestyle of Plei Op Culture Village in Gia Lai, you have fresh and wild nature of horizon, green paddy field and serene streams in the vicinity to enjoy and contemplate.

Visitors are always welcomed to Plei Op Village to explore stilt-houses, the water supplying collective site, unique tombs with uncanny wooden figures… Moreover, one featured night activity defining traditional custom in High Central Region is attending the talk of the village patriarch, Puih Sir, which delivers Khan (Ethnic epics about Heros of the village). It’s also pretty well-known with the name of Kon Tum Wooden Church which is the most antique and beautiful relic of the region.

Located right at the center of Kon Tum, the Cathedral has always been the pride of the local and Tay Nguyen people in general due to the harmonious layout combined with majestic architecture, and of course, its traditional values. While the Church was totally built from the best quality wood type, its walls were well made from the mixture of soil and straw. Until now, Kon Tum Cathedral has still existed in the best condition.

Coming to this place during Christmas time, tourists will definitely have the chance to learn and experience the very unique and interesting Noel festival atmosphere right there.

Formerly known as Bachthao Gardens, Hanoi Zoo is home to about 800 animals with over 90 different species on exhibition, including big cats, monkeys and reptiles. The zoo is located within Thu Le Park – a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi central.

The zoo is striving to improve facilities and expertise to bring it on par with other zoos throughout the world and is currently undergoing a conservation-and-breeding programme of animals from Vietnam and other destinations believed to be under threat. The animals on display are located throughout the park meaning you can enjoy the landscaped surroundings as you visit the zoo. There is also a fun park for kids located close by. Hanoi Zoo is located a short taxi ride northeast of the main Hanoi centre.

Animals on display at Hanoi Zoo include a variety of native species such as the Vietnam pheasant displayed with information signs in Vietnamese, English and French. The star exhibit is Lam Nhi or ‘baby of the forest’ – a tiger who was rescued after being taken from the jungle to be sold for its skin. A local competition was held to name the tiger with over 10,000 school children submitting entries; today the celebrity tiger attracts many visitors. Other big cats on display include the Indochinese tiger, Siberian tiger and clouded leopard.

There are also plenty of monkeys including lots of gibbons swinging from ropes and tyres in a specially built monkey enclosure. Asian elephants are present on the edge of the lake and there is also a small aquarium with turtles and tropical fish. Families visiting Hanoi Zoo can take a rest in a shaded picnic area, kids will also enjoy a spin on the lake in a swan peddle boat. When you’ve finished browsing round the zoo and surrounding gardens you can stop by the souvenir store and purchase an ornamental plant such as a bonsai tree.

Much of the emphasis at the zoo is based on gathering knowledge rather than care for the animals so do be warned that the cages will be smaller than those you might see at other zoos. Conditions however are improving and are certainly better than some of those found at neighbouring Asian zoos.
